She has the most wonderful family in the world.

„I love playing in the orchestra because my colleagues are good musicians and good people. I wish us to have high quality concerts, and a large audience. For the world I wish that the generation of my child will be able to change the growing stupidity and self-destruction of humanity.”

Kovács, Péter

Kovács, Péter

Member of our orchestra since 2001. Besides the BDO, he also plays at Modern Art Orchestra (they play big band music and modern jazz) and at Papajazz formation (they play traditional jazz). He teaches at 17th District Bartók Béla Art School.

His favourite composer: Wagner, Miles Davis, Gil Evans.

He cannot pick a favourite composition since he has many favourites.

A lot of people asked me: Why trombone? Well I was about  8-9 years old when in Hajdúszoboszló there was a wedding in the neighbourhood, and in the street a wedding orchestra showed up in which though not a trombone, a helicon was the bass. At this moment I realized what kind of instrument I wanted to play.

“I love playing in BDO because of the versatile, colourful repertoire, and because the orchestra is open to play other genres besides classical music. What I miss, after all, might sound weird because it’s also related to the repertoire. (It’s true not only for the BDO but for other symphony orchestras as well) It seems to me that classical concert programme (such as overture, concerto, symphony) is dying out.”

Pálinkás, Péter

Pálinkás, Péter

Official member of the orchestra since 2008, Péter has also been a teacher at Szent István Király Music Secondary School and Music Elementary School for 15 years and founding member of the four-time international competition winner Corpus Trombone Quartet established in 2001.

His favourite composition is ever changing. For five years now it has been Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6.

Favourite conductors: W. Furtwängler, V. Gergiev and Gergely Kesselyák

Favourite composers: Wagner, Richard Strauss, Franz Liszt and Béla Bartók

‘I’m happy to be part of this outstanding orchestra. I believe – as I’m sure many others do here – that I work in one of the orchestras with the best vibes in Hungary.

Upon our 25th anniversary in 2018 I wish Dohnányi Orchestra at least another 100 years which I hope we and our successors will be able to play through with no financial difficulties at all. And for the world and the global management of Planet Earth I wish that they start to tune in classical music as soon as possible, cease all plans of war immediately and enjoy the wonderful soul-healing power of music.

And last but not least I wish that my teeth stay in good shape (a healthy set of teeth is a must for a trombone player), so that I can participate in the orchestra’s 68th season opening concert with the same vigour and delight as I play now.’

Trombone

Sütő, András

Sütő, András

Member of the orchestra since 2000, András is also a trombonist in the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and founding member of the Corpus Trombone Quartet established in 2001.

One of his favourite compositions nowadays is Wagner’s masterpiece, Twilight of the Gods. Other beloved pieces of his are the compositions written for the Trombone Quartet.

His partner is Ági Kószás, leader of the cello section. They are raising two daughters together, Anna and Rita.

‘I love working here because the management is particularly flexible and because the bass brass section breathes and thinks in perfect unison, as three of us from the Corpus Quartet sit behind the trombones in the Dohnányi Orchestra. The programme is always colourful and versatile here; we never ever get bored for a minute!’

With the Junior Príma award winning In Medias Brass he achieved impressive results (five first prize. two second prize, special prizes) in numerous national competitions. From Japan to The United States they gave outstanding concerts and courses in many countries. He was successful even as a soloist; in 2004 he won the first prize in an international trumpet competition in Germany, and in 2006 he was awarded Artisjus Prize.

„The orchestra’s work is characterized by a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and high quality. The programme of our concert is mixed including a lot of genres. It’s a great pleasure for the orchestra but also for the audience, proved by the fact that most of our concert is sold-out. It’s wonderful to play, to give something to many people.

I joined the orchestra in 2002, since then we have come a long way in which Gábor Hollerung played a great part. I wish ourselves to keep playing together and having success for many years!”

Anyway who wouldn’t want to play together in a good company of good musicians?

I wish ourselves many times more years in health, happiness, helping each other.”
