Márfi, Eszter

Eszter has been a member of our orchestra since 2018.

She grew up in a family of musicians, and  gained proficiency in different musical genres at an early age due to her parents’ openness to music (her mother is a music teacher and a vocal coach, her father is a clarinet artist and works at the radio). Thanks to this, she was a regular in the studio, where she could freely pick from among the finest of records by Brahms, Phil Collins and Pat Metheny from the stuffed CD racks.

This is also the reason why, in addition to playing the flute, she engages in improvisations in electronic music in the Baroque – contemporary ensemble of the Recurring Company.

Her favourite composers are Rameau, Prokofiev and Bartók; her favourite pieces are the piano concertos of Prokofjev and Bartók.

‘In the orchestra, it is a tremendous experience to feel the professional and human cohesion of the community, formed into a great unity by Gábor’s hands. I am grateful to be a member of this team, and I will do my best to pass on the values conveyed by BDO.’
