Markó, János Zsolt

Markó, János Zsolt

Member of the orchestra since 2001.

He lives with his wife and his daughter Léna. When not playing music, he tries to be with them as much as possible.

‘Why I love to work in this orchestra… aside from clichés, mainly because I have many friends here with whom I enjoy time off work, too. In 2018, what could one ask for such an anniversary? Many more such 25 years! And to the boss I wish lots of strength, endurance and enthusiasm to be able to deal with us!’

Kusz, Viktória

Kusz, Viktória

Member of the Orchestra since 2000, although has been playing with us continuously since 1998. She has been the principal of the viola section since the beginning. Aside from the Orchestra she is also member of BDZ Quartet, a string quartet formed by the members of the orchestra. This also greatly helps her work for the orchestra.

She has two children, Lili and Balázs.

From the very first time, she was captivated by the special atmosphere that she had never experienced elsewhere. It soon became clear to her that their working relationship with conductor Gábor Hollerung is excellent, so she almost immediately knew that this orchestra would be her long term choice. She never regretted that decision. She strives to show people the joys of music and playing music together from concert to concert.

‘To this day, I feel challenged and honoured to be accepted by the people sitting behind me and for moving along in the same direction for many years. Many friendships developed within the orchestra have now been part of our everyday life for two decades. I love this orchestra and the people working here. I come in every morning with good feelings and wish all of us to have at least as many years together, toilsome yet joyful, as there are already behind us all.’

‘I really love our diverse repertoire, to be a member of this group is a tremendous experience for me. Of course it is also a fantastic feeling to play in front of a full house audience at all times. For me, to learn ever harder programmes is a constant challenge yet it is extraordinarily inspiring. Upon our 2018 anniversary I wish at least 25 more years for us all – that is, I want to retire from here!’

Borbély-Puskás Dr., Marica

She has been a member of the orchestra since 2006 but she had played here before as a substitute. First she played in the BDO when she was 15 years old. She is also a teacher and a lawyer.
Her favourite composer: Brahms, Tchaikovsky and other Russian composers.
Her favourite composition: She has many, she cannot pick one.

She is married, she has a daughter, Lilla.

Apart from playing in BDO, in 2013 she graduated summa cum laude in Law at Eötvös Lóránd University. Besides the work, it was a serious project to her, especially because it is a completely different field from music. She is happy that she could make it. It gave her strength and momentum for the further challenges.

„Playing in an orchestra is the best for me. Being a team player, I always imagined playing in this formation during my studies. The repertoire is versatile, and there are no limits regarding the genre. Our young and ambitious team is open to perform different musical styles so we really do what we like. I like the fact that we don’t “produce paper” but our work has a perceptible result: we give and receive experiences. The atmosphere is great, although sometimes in a period full of concerts –like in other workplaces- the tension might increase. However by the end it is good to see that everybody gives his/her best on the stage.

On the occasion of our 25th anniversary I wish for our conductor, the engine of our orchestra, Gábor health, energy, and endurance to be able to conduct us for a long time. I wish that this beautiful profession be finally appreciated in every respect as being a musician requires lots of practice since childhood. It is not about becoming “celebrity” all at once. I wish all of my colleagues to make many friendships, to play together in a joyful way, and to have a lot of wonderful concerts.”

“I love how the members of the orchestra can cooperate with each other. We have many concerts that can be challenging sometimes, but at the end we always bring out the best in each other! It’s wonderful to be part of the experience when a lot of people inspire each other on stage. I think Gábor is an excellent conductor, and teacher because he lets us make music. He trusts in us and he knows what we are capable of together. It’s a real treasure in the life of an orchestral musician.
I wish us to be in a good health and to be able to laugh hard and cry in the rehearsals and concerts even after another 25 years!”

She would like to introduce to people the significance of the vibration and the quality music. She would like to show them the importance of the noises and the vibrations that we are surrounded by, and the music that we listen to. This is the reason why she began to use singing bowls that show the harmonious „healing” vibration both in an auditive way and with body sense. Singing bowls harmonize, energize and vitalize us.
