Introduction

A composer of grand oratorios and poignant operas, Händel was a brilliant musician and also had a reputation of a talented businessman. In 2025, the music world will commemorate the 340th anniversary of George Frideric Händel’s birth. A colourful cross-section of his rich oeuvre will be presented at the marathon organised by Müpa Budapest in February. The music of the Baroque master will fill the entire building: not only in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall and the Festival Theatre, but also in the Lobby with a tableau exhibition, the Glass Hall with concerts by music academics and the Auditorium with screenings of concert films.
