Guido Mancusi

Principal Guest Conductor and composer

His connection with the orchestra dates back to 2010, since then he has been a regular guest leading the orchestra. Our cooperation became official in 2018, by creating the position of ‘Principal Guest Conductor’.

Besides working with Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra, he is also Music Director of the Wiener Volksoper Orchestra, Guest Conductor for the Wiener Symphoniker and Principal Conductor of the Schönbrunn Orchester Wien. He is also an avid composer.

Guido has no favourite composer; he believes there are two kinds of music: good and bad. His favourite pieces are Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier, Alban Berg: Wozzeck and Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde.

He is married and has a daughter.

“I love working here because together with these insanely talented musicians we are capable of accomplishing anything. They are brave and not afraid to take risks. This is exactly what art needs in order to be true. Upon the 2018 anniversary, wish the orchestra another 25 successful years and to find plenty of joy in making music.”

Gábor Werner

Conductor and cellist

He has been a member of the orchestra since 2000. In addition to working with BDO, he conducts, prepares music arrangements and plays the cello wherever he is needed. He is a cellist at MÁV Symphony Orchestra.

He says he cannot name either his number one composer or his favourite composition.

Gábor is a father of three children and has a grandchild.

In his free time he is keen on doing anything outdoors.

“This community is perfect in every way, both professionally and personally. I wish us countless cathartic experiences to come and – having now accomplished the first quarter of a century – at least another 25 years together.”
